Heat Safety for Desert Dwellers

Last updated 2 years ago

With summer in full swing, temperatures are often dangerously high, which can lead to several health problems if not properly prepared for. In this video, Sunrise Hospital’s Dr. Sears explains why it’s important to stay hydrated during the summer, particularly if you plan to be outside for a large portion of the day. In order to avoid heatstroke, residents of Las Vegas are encouraged to stay out of the sun, drink plenty of water, and avoid consuming too much alcohol or caffeine, which can lead to dehydration.

For more ways to stay healthy during the summer, or for advice on keeping your kids safe from injury while playing outdoors, call Sunrise Children’s Hospital’s Consult-A-Nurse line at (702) 731-5437 (KIDS).
