Children's Emergency Services at Sunrise Children's Hospital
No parent wants to see their child get hurt, especially not badly enough to where they need emergency medical treatment. But if an accident or serious illness does occur, Sunrise Children’s Hospital will be there to provide quality emergency care. Our pediatric emergency room offers the following features to help your child receive the help he or she needs in a comfortable, child-friendly setting.
Dedicated Pediatric Care
In a medical emergency, children may be frightened and disoriented, which is why it is important for healthcare professionals to be experienced at both treating and comforting kids. Our Pediatric Emergency Room contains pediatricians who are board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine, nurses certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and specialists on-call 24/7 to provide the care your child needs.
Child Life Specialists
In order to help children feel comfortable with the hospital environment and understand medical treatments and procedures, we provide child Life specialists who work with kids and their families to reduce anxiety. These professionals teach children coping skills and help explain medical situations on an age-appropriate level. They also offer activities to occupy kids during hospital stays and encourage them to express their feelings through art.
Transport Services
If a child at another Las Vegas hospital needs the specialized care and equipment available at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, our transport team can safely transfer him or her to our emergency room using an ambulance, fixed-wing aircraft, or helicopter. This ensures that patients receive the best care possible with minimal risk.
With the proper precautions, you can minimize your child’s risk of needing emergency medical care. For advice on preventing injuries and recognizing illness, call Sunrise Children’s Hospital’s non-emergency Consult-A-Nurse healthcare referral line at (702) 233-5437. Our nurses are available any time to answer your health-related questions or refer you to a pediatric specialist.
