Expectant Mothers: Preparing for Your Hospital Stay
In your last trimester of pregnancy, there are many exciting things to do to prepare for the arrival of your baby. One of the most important things to plan for is your visit to Sunrise Children’s Hospital, as you want to have the most stress-free delivery experience possible. Below are some ways to get ready for your hospital visit.
Pack Comfort Items
In order to stay comfortable during your labor and delivery, consider bringing your own nightgown, robe, and slippers to the hospital. Keep in mind that items may become dirty, so save your brand-new pajamas for after the birth. Many women find it helpful to bring a pillow from home as well as massage items so their partners can comfort them during labor.
Gather Relevant Documents
Be sure that your hospital bag has a copy of your birth plan, medical records, and health insurance documentation so you won’t have to worry about gathering these items once your contractions start. Sunrise Children’s Hospital allows you to preregister so you can avoid filling out forms while you are in labor.
Get Ready to Make Memories
You won’t want to miss capturing those first precious moments with your baby, so make sure that your camera is ready to go, with fresh batteries and an empty memory card. If you bring your baby book, the nurses can help stamp your baby’s footprints. You may also want to prepare a list of people to notify after the birth so no one feels left out.
Prepare for the Drive
A few weeks before your due date, make a trip to Sunrise with your partner so you know which obstacles to avoid and which route is likely to be the fastest and easiest. You should also install the infant car seat around this time so you can be confident that you are doing it correctly before you have the distraction of a baby.
